Sign of More Growth

Look at how handsome that little blade-like leaf has grown since my last post.The ginger-like root has produced so many leaves but still has no flower yet. The leaves are so slender & bushy that I need to bundle them up with a string.

This is the pot which I said I did not want to post earlier.Can you see the little baby shoot peeping out of the soil now? So the seed has finally forced its way out of the pod & pierced through the soil.

What is the fate of the Pamelo tree?

Due to a HDB enbloc exercise in the area, the Buona Vista Swimming Complex & some surroundings flats will be demolished in the year 2010.

By then I believe they will also be chopping down the pamelo tree which is standing right in front of the swimming complex.

I use to pass by this tree & always ask myself what will happen to the tree when HDB starts to tear down all the buildings there. Just wish that some people or a relevant authority will be kind enough to move the tree to a new home instead of having it chopped down. It's indeed a lovely sight looking at all the pameloes hanging on the branches.

Unknown New Plants

I have just added four new plants in my garden. Two of them were planted from bulb, one with a little shoot already growing from it; and another from a root about one month ago. One more from seeds was added a week ago after my friendly neighbour noticed I ran out of container & gave me a medium size one to put them in.
My better-half bought the root, bulbs & seeds from Medan, Indonesia during his recent business trip there. He does not know their names but only told me they are very beautiful when in full blooms. Fortunately, he has taken some pictures of them in their gardens. I shall check it up with my gardening friends for their names.
This is the actual height of the plant when it was brought back to me. Only a new leaf has grown from within after about two weeks.
The root you see below looks much like a blue ginger. It came without any baby shoots on it. Very quickly after a few days, baby shoots started to sprout.
This is a rather huge bulb. Can you see the little sharp blade-like leave sprouting from the soil? It wasn't there three weeks ago! While the rest of my new plants have shown some sign of growth during the early stage of planting, this container just did not produce any sign of progress. I thought it was the end of it. Just a few days ago, my husband & I were so exhilarated - it showed the first sign of growth! That is indeed a long wait for that little sprout to protrude out of the soil and we did not expect it to be appearing so far away from the bulb! For a moment, we thought it was just a piece of fallen leaf from somewhere & wanted to pick it up to discard it.
In fact, there is another plant I have not posted its picture here because it is still being buried in the soil. The seeds are still in their pods & I have to bury the whole thing into the soil. If I were to post it now, it will be just the container with only soil & no plant in it that I am showing you. So just have to wait a while more ...

Our 20th Wedding Anniversay - 11.11.88 to 11.11.08

We congratulated each other for having happily walked down the marriage memory lane together for 20 years. Through those years, we have learned not only to accept each other's weaknesses but also learned to focus & appreciate each other's strengths & inner beauties.

Recollecting many joyful & memorable moments we have enjoyed together, makes me want to learn to give him back in double portion the love & care he has so unselfishly showered over me. Sometimes I have the feeling of him loving me more than I love him.

He is such a dear. Some of my friends will tell me they have a good husband, a good father but not a good lover. Or some will say they have a good lover but not a good husband or a good father. I must declare I have them all in him - a good husband, a good father & a good lover.

God has given me many gifts; and he is one of those greatest & most precious ones.
