Millvina Dean has been the last living survivor of the Titanic since last year when Barbara Dainton, from Cornwall, died aged 96.
"Miss Dean, 96, is hoping to raise some £3,000 from the sale after finding herself unable to cope with the cost of her nursing home in Ashurst, Hants." reported in the TimesOnline. I feel sorry for her. She has been such a legend for nearly a century & now in her last few years of life, living in the home with no loved ones to send her off when she has to go.Of course, being the last living survivor of that famous sunken ship & receving so much fanfare out of it is no fault of her. However, like any fairy tales or heroic stories , I would like to see a happy ending chapter in her story too.
It would be very heart-warming if the film maker of Titanic or organisations which have profited from the tragic accident can sponsor Miss Dean. Needless to say, having to be living so long with bad memories of losing her dear father in such a tragic accident is surely very hard on her. Let her live her last few years well & that she can bring along with her sweet memories of humanity instead of having to remember she has to sell her mementoes to pay for her last few years of care.
